Recently, emergency rooms around the nation are being flooded with patients who are considered "non-emergent." This must change for the sake of hospitals everywhere and the future of the healthcare industry.
HOSA: Future Health Professionals Extemporaneous Writing Internationals, 4th Place
Short story about an African family forced out of their country and into separation and relocation. This story is based on a true story and explores themes of family, love, hope, violence, and courage.
Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Short Story, Regional Honorable Mention
I read this memoir for my AP English Lang class and was riveted by the author's words. Writing this critical analysis allowed me to reach beyond the surface of Skloot's words and enabled me to discover the truth behind the story of Henrietta Lacks.
